Every element of an industrial structure – whether it is simple or complex, large scale or modest – must be carefully planned, thought through and risk assessed. This extends to the safe transfer of liquids and gases, chemicals and steam.
Stainless steel conduits and hoses are regularly selected for these purposes as a result of their durability and the fact that they can be designed to match the specifications of particular jobs. They are perfect for industries working with heating, ventilation and automation, and companies that regularly handle chemicals and gas.
So what is a stainless steel hose, and what might one be used for?
Stainless Steel Hoses – the Basics
While the name given to this product may sound straightforward, there is a great deal of intricate and complex engineering that goes into the creation of a stainless steel conduit or hose. Our flexible metal hoses are formed from an inner tube of annular corrugated stainless steel surrounded by a braided steel sheath, rendering it exceptionally durable and resistant to pressure, erosion and wear and tear.
This type of flexible metal hose is perfect for use with pressurised water and gases in particular, and excel in extreme temperatures.
Specialist Products
Our stainless steel hoses can be manufactured to a client’s specific brief. For example, while we most commonly use type 321 stainless steel for our hoses and conduits, if a product was required for use on an oil rig, it may be required to be formed from type 316 stainless steel. This is also known as marine grade stainless steel and is resistant to the extreme erosive effects of sea water. It does not rust or stain, and, as a result, you can expect it to perform perfectly for many years.
Stainless steel conduits work perfectly in a vacuum or under substantial pressure, and may also be used to easily resolve pipe misalignment issues.
All stainless steel flexible hose assemblies made by Proflex Hose LTD are manufactured in-house, to our rigorous standards, and are subjected to a variety of tests and quality checks – including submerged pressure tests – to ensure full functionality.
A Variety of Options
The team at Proflex Hose LTD can tailor an assembly to optimise the performance of your hoses or conduits. Additional fittings and accessories such as flanges, screw ends and hydraulic hose fittings can be included to perfect your setup.
We are also able to provide flexible metal hoses made from other materials, including advanced alloys such as Monel and Inconel, or traditional performance metals like bronze.
Proflex Hose LTD currently serves the oil, gas, hydraulic, general industrial, air conditioning and refrigeration industries.
